Not a lot to report yet again! We’re still working on some behind the scenes stuff that you’re gonna love. Ranks are updated but since there could be some top 10 movement tonight, I’ll wait to post them later in the week. Until then check out Jay Light’s recap of The Roastmaster’s and give the podcast a listen. Since I’m in promo mode, you should all follow Living Extracts on Twitter and Instagram! Bandwidth ain’t cheap bruh and the fine people at Living Extracts are helping out the pod. What are they selling? Only the finest quality wax at the best prices. Hit them and enjoy the show…just a little more. Here’s a pic of Joe Rogan enjoying the show and a few more pics of the crazy special guests we’ve had. As always, shout to Troy Conrad for the photos.
That’s Jim Carrey and Bob Saget making themselves available to analyze and roast anyone they can. We’ve also had Dave Chappelle, Tyler the Creator and John Mayer. Maybe soon you’ll let the special guest be…you. #presh
Can we preview?
Alright! Let’s welcome Nikki Glaser to the judges table! If you like comedy and the internet, then there’s a chance you’re aware of Miss Glaser. She is great on Twitter and is one of the best on @midnight. Look for her special to be on Comedy Central soon as well as her own show called “Not Safe with Nikki Glaser” that you can read more about here!
Stoked to welcome Brody Stevens back to the judges table! Brody is one of the funniest guys around the Comedy Store. I once saw him correctly guess where audience members were from three times in a row. This next exchange was third of those correct guesses.
“Where you from? Your vibe is very Texas. Or San Diego.” – Brody
“I am from San Diego.” – Dude
“I knew it. Your shirt and face say real estate.” – Brody
“He does work in real estate.” – Mrs. Dude
Just a little taste of what he can bring. Maybe he’ll do a drum solo, as he’s been known to do on a chair or two.
Hooray! Kirk Fox is coming back to judge! Kirk always contributes very funny commentary with great insight on the battles. It just occurred to me how much he looks like a younger old Bob Saget. Check out some of his stand-up here. You can also see him at the Comedy Store, where he performs most nights of the week.
The first undercard on the bill has Jasmin Leigh (0-0. UR) taking on Zane Pond (0-0, UR)!
Another newbie battle! I’m not familiar with these two but it should be fun. Jasmin is shown wearing what I can only assume is her church attire. Zane looks like he supports and oppresses gay marriage at the same time. This is where I would go to Twitter to find out a little more about these rookies. Jasmin tweets about important issues like days in the calendar year and astrological information. Zane only has thirty followers but one of them is Handbags and Totes, so maybe we’re the ones doing it wrong. The pick is Zane.
Our next undercard pits Robbie Kirkhuff (1-0, 95) against Brandon Jeddi (0-0, UR)!
Alright, Robbie Kirkhuff, I see you. Getting yourself a tomato can to steamroll to climb those ranks. Okay, Brandon Jeddi, I…don’t see you. In fairness, I know nothing of Brandon other than his semi-witty Twitter headline. This was the only photo I could find of him and it could be literally anyone. Good move Brando. Anonymity is a cornerstone of building a fan base. Robbie has a win but it was a bit of a weak win. You can read about it and all of the battles past in the archive. I’m gonna go with experience here and pick Robbie. I won all my fantasy leagues this week so my decision-making is on point.
The last undercard on the lineup matches Terrence Newman (0-0, UR) with Tony Bartolone (0-0, UR)!
I am excited for this battle! Both of these guys are great comics and good dudes. They are friends and frequent the east side comedy scene a lot so the chemistry should be hot. Terrence was seen most recently playing drums as a part of Sexual Eruption, international sex/music crew that helps comics “score their set” at the Show UP Go Up open mic at the Comedy Store. I’m unsure if Tony is in a band but thats shouldn’t be a factor tonight. Good luck to both of these guys but I think Tony will have the most luck.
And now on to our titanic Main Event! Keith Carey (5-1, 10) versus Alex Hooper (6-1, 2)!
Woo! The battlers photos are borrowed from a series being done by the Great Photog, Troy Conrad! Make sure you follow him and The Comedy Store so you don’t miss a single one. This should be nothing but fire all night. Keith makes his way from his orthopedic seat at the Hater’s table to take on number two overall and people’s champ, Alex Hooper. Both of these guys are fantastic comedians and deadly roast joke writers. Keith is essentially battling every week from the Hater’s table and often spars with battlers and judges alike. Alex’s only loss came from current number on overall Joe Dosch (6-1, 1) and even that one went down to the buzzer. I gotta go Alex here.
I am 50-33 in picks. Yea, I’m the only one keeping track. Wanna fight about it? Thanks as usual for reading and coming to the show. Listen to the podcast! Keep with the ranks! Headliner ranks too! Shout to the Great Photog for the beautiful photos. Follow us on the only IG backed by the Report, tweet us@roastbattle or email firstname.lastname@example.org for questions/concerns/other stuff.
